The stars of the Gander Outdoors Trucks Series took to the dirt at Eldora for the 7th annual Dirt Derby which saw Stewart Friesen claim his 1st career Truck series win after so many times finishing 2nd or bad luck ruining his day. The Canadian show his muscle all race long being up front for a majority of the 150 lap event. The high lane or “Cushion” seemed to be the preferred line for all the trucks. With his victory on Thursday, Friesen has secured a spot in the upcoming playoffs. Sheldon Creed finished 2nd, Grant Enfinger finished 3rd, Mike Marlar making his truck series debut finished 4th and Todd Gilliland rounded out the top 5. Up next for the Trucks is the regular season finale at Michigan and things will be interesting as 1 spot remains up for grabs in the playoffs.

Zippo 200 review

Austin Cindric won his 1st career Xfinity Series race in Saturdays Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen in dramatic fashion after passing AJ Almendinger with 2 laps to go. Kyle Bush who was the favorite to win the race, broke an upper control arm after passing Ryan Blaney coming out of the Inner Loop. Busch was forced to retire. Almendinger who finished 2nd, failed post race inspection yet again, was disqualified and ended up finishing last. Up next for the Xfinity series is yet another road course, this time they run the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH.

Chase Elliott won Sundays Cup race in dominating style. Elliott led 80 of the 90 laps. Elliott scored his 1st MENCS win at Watkins Glen last year is the 1st driver to score back to back wins at the road course since Marcos Ambrose did it in 2012-2013. Martin Truex Jr finished runner up for the 2nd straight year. Kyle Busch had an eventful race. He spun out on lap 2, made contact with William Byron and eventually got spun out by Bubba Wallace who gained a few new fans with his move. Up next for the Cup series is a Date with Michigan International Speedway.
