Gander Outdoor 150 review.

Ross Chastain won Saturday afternoons Gander Outdoor 150 at Pocono Raceway for his 3rd truck series win of the season. Chastain, who led 42 of the the 60 lap event showed once again why he’s considered a favorite to win the Truck title. Tyler Ankrum finished 2nd and Harrison Burton scored another top 5 and gained alot of points thanks to a lap 1 crash by playoff hopeful Stewart Friesen who got loose in turn 1 and damaged the truck so bad, that he was unable to resume the race. Chastain has celebration ritual that includes smashing a watermelon when he wins. (His family are watermelon farmers) Next race for the NGOTS is Thursday night on the dirt at Eldora Speedway.

Chase Briscoe picked up his 2nd career Xfinity Series win in the US Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway on Saturday night. Briscoe’s 1st career win came last year at Charlotte on the Roval. Christopher Bell who dominated most of the race looked like he was going to pick up another series win, fought hard with Briscoe the final 15 laps but could not hold on to the lead due to Chase being on fresher tires than he was. Next race for the Xfinity Series is Saturday afternoon at Watkins Glen International.

Gander RV 400 review.

Denny Hamlin was able to save enough fuel to win Sunday’s Gander RV 400 at Pocono Raceway. The win was Hamlin’s 3rd of the year and 5th win at the 2.5 mile “Tricky Triangle.” The 160 lap event needed overtime to finish as a caution came out with a handful of laps remaining. Erik Jones finished 2nd and Martin Truex Jr finished 3rd giving Joe Gibbs Racing another 1,2,3 finish this season Kevin Harvick won Stage 1 and Kyle Busch won Stage 2. Hamlin passed teammate Jones on lap 144 and somehow, managed to save enough fuel to win. Next race for the Cup series is Sunday at Watkins Glen International. Chase Elliott is the defending race winner.
