Indianapolis Colts Preview and Prediction

Quarterback- Andrew Luck had a great year last year, finally looking completely healed after his injury in 2015. He threw for 4,593 yards, 39 touchdowns to only 15 interceptions, and his best QBR rating of his career 71.7. Yes, the Colts have been notoriously a pass happy team due to a lack of running game, so the numbers are skewed a bit, but there is no question Andrew Luck is finally living up to what they were all saying about him out of college. As long as he stays injury free the Colts have no issue here.

Running Backs- Marlon Mack heads up this group, who showed definite improvement last year after his rookie campaign. He rushed for a little over 900 yards last year and is looking for more this coming season. Hopefully he works on his receiving skills this off-season after only having a touch over 100 yards in that area, but Mack is an improvement on what they have put on the field as of late. The depth at this position is not great, but they all took the field last year so they have game time experience.

Wide Receiver- The addition of Devin Funchess should finally take some double teams away from T.Y. Hilton for a change. Funchess isn’t the greatest number #2, but just like the running game, he is a big improvement from what they had. However they do not have depth at this position. Next man up would be Chester Rodgers who is decent, but after that it falls all the way off. I wonder what Andrew Luck really could do with great group of wide outs to his arsenal.

Tight End- Eric Ebron coming over from Detroit last season was a suprise to everyone around the league when he showed out, having a few multiple touchdown games. He seemed like the #2 to T.Y. Hilton. Yes Eric Ebron still drops the ball like he did in Detroit but not at the same pace last year. Jack Doyle was good in his own right last season as well putting up his best numbers of his young career. The tight end position is pretty solid for the Colts.

Offensive Line- Andrew Luck only got sacked last year 18 times, that is very good for a pass happy team like the Colts, and like previously stated, the running game improved tremendously. Seems like the offense is coming together. I see no issues with this group, they are as solid as they come.

Defense- Another area of improvement with the rookie linebacker coming in last year Darius Leonard, arguably the best in the league at that young age. Their defensive line with Jabaal Sheard and Justin Houston on opposite ends should get some good pressure on the opposing quarterbacks this season. While they got good space eaters in the middle of the line in Margus Hunt and Denico Autry. Linebackers shouldn’t be much of an issue with Leonard putting them in the right position. Now the secondary that is to be determined, however their division outside of DeAndre Hopkins doesn’t have a whole lot elite WR play.

Prediction- 11-5

Every area of this team improved last year and I expect the same this year. They are clearly the most complete team in their division with a lot fewer questions.
